Congratulatory Remarks for Our President

Dear President Obama,

I noticed you and your family on the television last week.  The coverage was more personal than formal.  I noticed you’ve found the time to attend a Hoyas game.  Through the midst of an economic crisis, a growing debt to China, and a war on terror, you have managed to once again shock us with your recreational activities.

Let me be the first to say that I absolutely love the fact that most of your “other” activities has been interactive with the public.  Not only does it show that you are down-to-earth, but that you see yourself as a part of the American society.  Therefore, I’ve gained an profound confidence in your decisions, such as the health care bill and your strategic thought in how many troops we should send to Afghanistan.

I congratulate you on gaining the trust of many of us who are leery of politicians.  I just wish that others before you weren’t so shunned from society and reality when they were in office.  Maybe they wouldn’t have lost the disconnect, and how knows – maybe the No Child Left Behind Act – would have actually done more good than harm.

Sure, you could utilize your time taking extravagantly long vacations, playing golf at Martha’s Vineyard or even isolating yourself to the four walls of the White House.  But your determination to be among the people and to prove that you do not think of yourself as above any of us, have impressed me.  The fact that you attend local games, eat at local D.C. carryouts, and endorse education the way you have is commendable on so many levels.

I can only pray that the standard you set will become a practiced legacy for all presidents after you.

By the way, I notice that you’ve grayed just a bit. Don’t tell me Congress and the Senate have you stressed.  Just remember you can always call on the Southeastern corridor of D.C. for assistance. (haha)

Much Love,

Beatrice
